Entertainment in the 1920s was new and different than before as many different societal and technological differences influenced the differences in entertainment. During this time people began driving cars, listening to the radio, and watching television. With citizens listening to the radio, it caused a contemporaneous rise of the radio. The radio was used for many different things at this time, but this is only one example of how entertainment has changed. This is a quote from an article from the time. This shows how society changed from traditionalists to flappers and gangsters quickly. It was thought to be mischievous as at this time it was thought to be abnormal and at the time this change was new. Galas like this helped influence people to go out in line with the new societal changes. "In the 1920s, Harlem was a vibrant community in the midst of the renaissance of entertainers and intellectuals. Zelda had a large impact on flapper culture and was thought to be the life of the party. Flappers helped signify and push for changes in society for women during the 1920s. Nightclubs became a large part of entertainment in the 1920s. Many urban entertainment districts have nightclubs as they are thought to be a feature that helped these districts be successful. Nightclubs help business districts be successful from many factors. First, the amount of people that go to nightclubs helps bring people into other things around the district as well. They also help keep the streets busy late at night, which in turn helps keep them safer. Nightclubs also help make the area popular for one-stop dining, entertainment, and retail stores. Changing the entertainment around the business district can also help bring repeat customers to things around the district.
