In the book “Feve1793r” and “Deadly” it is demonstrated by both the main characters that their environment influenced their decisions in the book. The main character’s environment (Mattie) was a post pandemic wasteland of the city that she formally knew. This influenced her decision-making, making her more caring for others in this situation. On page 86 the text states, “I have a plan,” I shouted as I ran back to the chestnut tree. I held my overskirt out in front of me to keep the raspberries from being crushed. The full canteen sloshed against my backside.” (Anderson, 86). First of all the environment in this scene is not scary, but the situation that Mattie and Grandfather are in is dire. They don’t have food or supplies. So Mattie foreges for food because of the environment they are in, helping grandfather in his time of need. This shows that her environment influenced her decisions by demonstrating that the loss of her brother was very impactful on her life making her environment lose someone she cared and loved for.
