The Fever Of 1793 Fever 1793, is an award winning book by,Laurie Halse Anderson that takes place in the cook CoffeeHouse in philadelphia,1793. The main character, Mattie is trying to survive the illness of almost everyone in the entire city.Mattie tries to save all of her beloved ones, but sadly it doesn’t work out as she hopped it would have.But she helps people along the way and with that makes a new family. It's 1793 and people are starting to just drop dead on their beds complaining of a fever. Mattie Cook lives with her mom and her grandfather and helps run their coffeehouse. When rumors start to fly around of "a fever" her mother becomes worried. Many start to flee the city but Mattie stays behind. Mattie then loses her mother and grandfather to the “fever”.It becomes a struggle just to stay alive.But, she helps other people without the “fever”,they quickly become family.Even with everything she’s been through she makes it through the horrible “fever”. …show more content…
