Federalism started many moons ago around the time of the ratification of the Constitution. Federalism is essentially between the state and national government. It is stated that the national and state are both separate but have a solemn authority over the same people and area. Federalism seeks solutions of common needs of citizens while also taking care of their preferences and circumstances. There is a numerous amount of different types of federalism such as dual, cooperative, marble cake, competitive, permissive and the new federalism. Regional and local governments compete with other regional and local governments. Investors invest under a regional or local government and people live in a regional or local government. These regional and local governments compete for the citizens and the investments. Life is all about competition. Businesses are constantly in competition to have the higher quality product. For instant, gas stations are always in competition every second to receive more business from citizens to buy there gas and not another competitors. Competitive federalism is known to rebalance the power between state and federal government so that the Constitution adheres more incorruptible. Very few American today would claim that the federal governments powers are limited because there are many rules and regulations that cease Americans to freely act on virtually any subject matter. Competitive federalism serves as a barrier and rebalances power between the states and federal governments. This type of federalism is what the founding father believed to be Americas greatest because competition between the states leads to the ultimate success. Nixon bestowed his thought on how power should be shared between the state and federal government. It conveyed powers that were previously the federal governments sent it back to the state level. Federal government implies block grants to the states that rectify social issues. Some powers were ejected from the state level allowing the states to regain authority. The new system proposed more money, directed problems with poverty and solved problems instead of creating them between states and local governments. Nixon had a Family assistance plan, and still today the plan is struggling to maneuver. The welfare system was the most difficult to manage, there would have to be an enormous increase before Congress would even think of passing it. Still today there are matters to be sorted out with Nixon’s New Federalism such as responsibilities that are on a local and state level. Some advantages of new federalism are that it offers freedom to form new policies. The new policies may be taken nationally or given by another state. Same-sex marriages were not recognized by the federal government then although states such as Connecticut and Massachusetts did recognize it, however, federal governments must recognize same-sex marriage do to the legalization of same-sex marriage in every state. Some disadvantages in the new federalism are conflict of authority,
