Women couldn 't vote, until 1920 when the 19th amendment was passed . They couldn 't own a credit card in their name until 1974. Until about 1950, the ladies weren 't allowed to smoke in a public place. The women 's rights have drastically changed in the past 90 years. Now they can work if they are pregnant, and they can also work a forty hour weeks.
Significant changes for women took place in politics, at home, the workplace, and in education. Women began to do the same work as men. They worked in the field, factories, played sports etc. Today, women have equal rights as men as well as the freedom to do things as they want.

When the Baby Boom happened, many Americans viewed this as a chance to get women back as household keepers. Many magazines at the time promoted sending women back to housewives. They would post articles like “Cooking To Me Is Poetry” and “Femininity Begins At Home”.
Progress Of Women In The 1920 's and 30 's Back in the 1920 's women started becoming extremely significant in the society. Before then, women rarely found jobs that accumulated a high enough income to raise a family. However this act of sexism changed in the early years of the 1920 's, women began to get involved in male dominated jobs. This time it worked, women were finally getting their say in political issues and they eventually got the chance to speak up. The government realized the types of distress and discomfort women went through to keep a healthy lifestyle for their young ones.
During the 1930’s women were not being treat equal in society. The men of this era had control over the women and they treated them with no respect. America seems to be well-known as being the land of the free. People who are enter or born in the land of the free are promised with civil rights and liberty. However, women are not treated the same and only considered as second class citizens. Meanwhile, African Americans are not even considered as citizens or even as humans. Human rights have always been controversial and it will always have its flaws.
Women’s rights and the way they live has changed greatly over the course of time. Back in the day, women did not have equal rights to men and they had to face many challenges in order to receive the jobs they wanted. Nowadays, women can get the same jobs as men and their power is much more appreciated. The 1930’s affected women in a positive way over time as they tried to work their way up in government positions, obtain more profitable jobs, and help provide for their families; but they still had a long ways to go getting equal rights to men.

Still, men were seen as better than women, this way of thinking pushed women to break out from the limitations imposed on their sex.
