In my settlement in America, I fathomed that there are certain aspects that define what being an American is. Some of these aspects include liberty, diversity, culture, emancipation, rights, etc. While these aspects seem astonishing, there are certain aspects that display America’s negative side. This includes our poor educational system, unappetizing meals in school, abuse of authority, and much more. In America, we are emancipated and given many rights and the liberty to achieve/do anything we desire provided that the law is not broken. To elucidate further, Americans have myriad rights and a great example would be the freedom of speech (1st amendment). This amendment permits us to freely express our beliefs, culture, and opinions. In addition, being American means coming from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. Moreover, being American means having myriad opportunities despite your current position/job (hence the ‘American Dream’). For example, unlike certain countries where you are fixed in the economic ladder depending on your lineage/kinship, America allows us to move up the economic ladder if we meet certain requirements for this opportunity. Most of the time, the meals served to us provide no healthy nutritious values whatsoever (e.g: pizza, burger, chicken nuggets, etc). Hence, this leads to obesity and about thirty percent of men/women in America are considered obese. Adding on, American has proven to be errable when certain individuals demonstrated an abuse of their authority.
