Being an american is more than just how you look or how you act, its also shown by your accomplishments in life and by the hard work you’ve put in to where you are now. There are many pros for being an american but you just don't become an american by living in america. Each and every single person has to earn the title of being an american by the goals that they seek to accomplish, the type of education that they are receiving, and the hard work that they put in, into every single thing they do. To begin with, one thing that defines an american are by the dreams and goals that they set out to achieve in the future. American are always trying to improve themselves and to exceed in life by working hard in their education.
What it means to be an American is that you have the freedom to vote freedom of speech. You have the liberty to be what you want in America no one chooses for you. Also have the liberty to work wherever you want not be someone 's slave. Being American means you don 't have to hide your religion, the color of your skin or your sex. On the surface, the question of ‘what it means to be an American’ would normally invoke an emotional response of patriotism, freedom, and the opportunity to live one’s dreams. While this is true for me in the larger context, however, ‘what it means to be an American’ is deeper and has a more visceral meaning to me. To be an American can mean a great many things to a person, not everyone in this country has been created equal to live with the same point of view. In todays world there are many different ways "American" can be interpreted. Everyone in America besides the native American people have different backgrounds from around the world, this meaning our country is diverse in its ethnicity and in its cultural differences. To me the meaning of American is that there is a peace of living between people of different races, although we're still trying to figure it out ourselves there can be a sense of pride in that. My only question is with different view points on the definition of American what will we, as a nation, strive to live for?
Nowadays, the USA are the symbol of democracy, freedom, and justice. Being and American means that you should, (even if we don’t now) always have the right to marry whomever you love, be in charge of your own body, and be your unique self. When America was born, the colonists were not fighting for an empire or a single person. They were fighting to give their sons and daughters (and ours, too) the freedom to live happily and in control of their government and lives. Being an American means we have a duty to uphold their beliefs in freedom, as well as our beliefs in equality.
Being an American is having patriotism for your country, fighting for your country,and accepting everybody. Being an American to means that everyone can live a happy stress free life where they don’t have to worry about being discriminated against or feeling like they don’t have equal rights. To start with, being an American can range in definition depending on a person 's perspective of America. Personally, I would say being an American is when you can live a happy life where you don 't have to worry about being treated differently because of the color of your skin.

Is it the freedom were given or the way our politics affect our everyday lives our is it knowing that we are safe and free because we have a good strong army to defend us. We all have different reasons to be an American, like some believe that having a religion and sharing it with your family is key. To be an American you are free to utilize religion to understand politics how it affects the way our country works. Being American means that you are part of one of the most diverse cultures in the world.
How does our generation define what it means to be an American? For our generation, most of us believe being American means hope and freedom. We all believe people can make their own choices and live freely. People had the freedom to choose their occupation and what they want to do with their life. Our generation agrees that people come here to start lives and to live successful, happy lives.

Someday my work will involve one of those conversations with family, friends and advisors centered on a hopeful future career in public service and politics.
