Being an American is having patriotism for your country, fighting for your country,and accepting everybody. The United States is based off the American dream and the American dream is made of what makes the United States “United” . An “American” can be anybody an immigrant, a soldier, doctor ,farmer, even a kid. Theodore Roosevelt understood that and called America a “melting pot” , meaning since different people came from different places, people shared their cultures, race , food. We came together, we became united we all came looking for change and a better life. Americans should not be racist and discriminate others. We all need to keep the country together because we are what make it united. If we lose our american part of us then what are we? We must not hate , we are americans we don't hate we comprise. We find a way to make sure the country stays united and we all agree to sometimes disagree. We have laws and amendments , a declaration to ensure that we do not lose our patriotism, rights, and our history. It's important to know what an american is and know what an american dies and is because we forget sometimes , we forget our history and what we stand for.
