I have lived in two completely different environments. I lived in Nigeria for the first 16 years of my life before moving to America three years ago. In my opinion, the major differences between these realms are transportation, healthcare, infrastructure, education, economy, culture and security. Transportation is very important in every modern society. It enables workers to get to their places of work, students to be able to go to school etc. In America, the transportation is system is very organized. There are train and bus schedules that are well organized. Also, and one can check the schedule online and even purchase a ticket. From roads, schools, hospitals, malls, government buildings and office buildings, all of them are vital. In America, the buildings are organized and have solid foundations. There is rarely any news of building collapsing due to lack of solid foundation. Also, the houses in America are mostly made out of wood. These building are formidable and last a long time. In America there are many tall buildings that are used for several purposes. They are mainly used for housing, commerce and professional use. In Nigeria there is minimal infrastructure compared to the United States. This is because there are few buildings in Nigeria that can be compared to architectural genius of America. Again, the roads are only limited to certain areas. In the slums, there are no roads. The slums usually have alleys that have no name and are difficult to navigate. They also have gutters everywhere releasing the stench of poverty into the air. Also, the buildings in Nigeria are mostly made from cement and to some extent mud bricks. Most of these houses lack a stable foundation and as a result many buildings collapse resulting in fatalities. America has done a good job with buildings and Nigeria could emulate America in order to improve the standard of
