Ever tried to live without the internet? How about your computer or even your cell phone? Before the 1980s it was not hard to live without them, for this technology had yet to be invented. Our technology keeps improving each year. Since the 1980s, we have been able to create cell phones that are small and can fit inside our pockets; we have computers and the internet that will have an answer, whether true or false, to almost anything. We have smart boards, flat screen TVs, iPads, ear phones, and so much more technology that has come out between the 1990s and now. Although, to get us to where we are today, the space shuttle needed to be invented, along with the computer, the internet, the Walkman and all the other technology invented in the 1980s. The space program had been using computers since the 1960s, but Americans had just discovered computers in the 1980s. Now that Americans were discovering computers, they were able to improve them as they made them. The advancements in computer technology allowed the construction of the space shuttle. The space shuttle was able to transport cargo to and from outer space like a space truck. The space shuttle, Columbia, rose from the launch pad at Cape Canaveral on April 12, 1981 and was the first space shuttle to leave the ground.
