Being a Mental Illness Social Worker is easier said than done. It has long hours and how much money you make depends on where you live. The only reason why we do it is because of the difference you can make a difference in someone 's life. The look in their faces when you help them is more than enough pay for any Social Worker. These are the steps to become a Mental Illness Social Worker.
Becoming a Mental Illness Social Worker requires at least a Master’s degree in Psychology or Sociology. The job will require you to take six years of school. That is four years to get your Bachelors and two years to get your Masters. There a lot of colleges you can go to to become a Mental Illness Social worker, but the top five are. University of Michigan, Washington University in St. Louis, University of California, University of Chicago, and finally University of Washington. These are the education requirements to even be consider to be a Mental Illness Social Worker.
There are many skill required to become a social worker. Some of these skills cannot be taught. If you do not have most of these skills I recommend you to not become a Mental Illness Social Worker. Now I know that is not a lot of money and I told you that we are not in it for the money. Your salary is your salary, but having a masters will get you more money. Maybe those two extra years in school is not as bad as you think it would be. Now the absolute lowest you can make is $40,000 and the highest you can make is $71,000.
