You miss every shot you don’t take, and the shots you don’t take are the ones that could mean everything. In the novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry, Mildred D. Taylor uses Stacey, a 13 year old boy to show amazing acts of courage and bravery. Stacey showed amazing acts of courage in the book, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, by helping T.J. get back to his house when he was beaten by R.W. and Melvin, he went to Strawberry with Papa and Mr. Morrison when he knew it might be dangerous, and he dug a hole to break the white kids bus on the way to school.In the book, Roll of Thunder, we know that Stacey is a 12-year-old boy who will stand up for what he believes in. The white-kid-bus on the way to school splashes them with dirty water on the way to school almost every day. So, the kids come up with a plan to stop this act of racism against the kids for no good reason. They plan to dig a big hole in the middle of the road and fill it with water so it will just look like a puddle. “We could hear the students squealing with delight. But instead of the graceful glide through the puddle that the occupants were expecting, the bus emitted a tremendous crack and careened into our trap.” pg. 54 This shows that the kids really hated the fact that that bus kept splashing them with the water every day so they built up the hatred and courage to dig this hole and purposefully wrecked the bus to stop that from
