In the short story, “A sound of Thunder”, Ray Bradbury used figurative language to make a bigger impact on the story. When Eckels goes into the office he sees and hears, “... A sound like a gigantic bonfire burning all of Time, all the years and all the parchment calendars- all the hours piled high and set aflame.” The author, Ray Bradbury, wanted his audience to have a specific image set in the audience’s head. By using a simile he help the reader imagine how Eckle’s is going to get to the past.
In the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Stacey’s perspective of friendship with T.J. and Jeremy is unique and this affects the decisions he makes in Chapter 7. Stacey allows T.J. to do almost anything around him, even though T.J. is rude and naughty. But, T.J. is still Stacey’s best friend. Morrision is the most brave, loyal, and kind person you will meet. Mr. Morrison showed courage by standing to the Wallaces, he moved Kaleb Wallace's car off the road, and when he stayed with the Logans even though he could get hurt Mr. Morrison’s actions proved that he knows what is right and he is going to stand up for that no matter what. Even though his parents were killed by whites, he stays calm and knows exactly how to deal with the situation.

Taylor, Cassie, a ten year old African American girl, experiences many race related conflicts when visiting the town of Strawberry with her grandmother. While walking through town one day, Cassie finds herself forced to apologize for bumping into Miz Lillian Jean Simms, a rich white child, even after being pushed down by her father: “No day in all my life had ever been as cruel as this one.” Because of Cassie’s race, Mr. Simms forces her to apologize even though she got pushed over, not Lillian Jean. This unfortunate event led to the anger in Cassie’s attitude. Cassie enrages Big Ma by telling Uncle Hammer false information about the event in Strawberry.
Although both Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park, and Ray Bradbury, author of A Sound of Thunder, use foreshadowing, A Sound of Thunder creates more suspense for readers. Both are excellent, but Bradbury uses outstanding diction to emphasize the importance of certain events in the plot. While the pair of stories are equally well written, A Sound of Thunder uses it's foreshadowing to allure readers into continuing the short story. In A Sound of Thunder, there are many instances of suspenseful foreshadowing.

Jeremy would be a much better friend than T.J. Stacey should be friends with Jeremy instead of T.J. because Jeremy stands up for the Logans, he cares about the Logans, and he doesn’t care about race. Unlike T.J., Jeremy stands up for Stacey and the Logans when they are in a tricky situation. After Mr. Simms pushed Cassie into the road in Strawberry and forced her to apologize to lillian Jean or else, Jeremy spoke up. In the text it says,“I-I apologized already.’

This was a very hard transition for her because with out them she had no sort of identity, it was also a hard transition because her old friends did not make it easy for her they use to throw things on her lawn and try to contact her. Cassie parents and her best friend Mona’s parents had a meeting with the sheriff and at the meeting Cassie’s parents were accused by Mona’s parents of it being Cassie fault that their daughter was into this sort of thing and that she changed Mona, they also talked about how they were making a big deal out of about this. When Cassie was at her new school she did not fit in very well but she did make friends with a girl name Jamie. When Mistsy, Cassie mother met Jamie she was no they type of girl she wanted Cassie to hang around but she decide to give her a try Jamie dressed very Goth but had a deep steadfast relationship with Christ she also attended weekly youth group meeting at church.
