ADHD is commonly associated with like-symptom disorders and life conduct problems. Common associated disorders are disruptive behavior disorder, increased injuries, learning disorders, peer problems, anxiety, and depression. The combination of ADHD and one of the commonly associated disorders increases the challenges of the child, adolescent, and/or parent will face. The most frequent combination of disorders is ADHD and disruptive behavior disorders. Disruptive behavior disorders are Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD). In these disorders, children act angry or belligerent around adults or when they are upset. ODD is the continuous misconduct to the point that it disrupts the livelihood of the individual and those around them. CD is like a more hostile form of ODD. CD is the belligerent behavior children have that can escalate to serious harm and violate clear rules. When such behavior continues to exist, it increases the likelihood of injury to self or others. Increased injury is another life conduct problem that is often associated with ADHD. Therefore, a child could be diagnosed with ADHD, CD, and increased injury. LD is blatant trouble a child has learning in more than one area of study. Children with ADHD and LD struggle to pay attention, completing their task, and remembering the necessary material; this will keep a child from flourishing in school. Another struggle a child with ADHD may have at school is peer related problems. The development of ADHD in children has the opportunity to be the main cause of peer problems at school. Children with inattentive symptoms may be introverted, while children with hyperactive/impulsivity symptoms may be invasive.
