The Diallo shooting is an example of a mind-reading failure. It reveals a grey area of human cognition; the middle ground between deliberate and accidental. Do you think the shooting was more deliberate or accidental?

I think we can all say that every thing that happens in our world, is on the news. I’m not talking about you eating your cereal, or your sleeping habit. I am really talking about the cultural phenomenons happening right now. This could mean the #blacklivesmatter movement, feminism, or even Donald Trump. These controversial conversations truly divide people left and right. One of the most talked-about topics of 2016, besides Beyoncé, is police brutality.

They filed gross negligence, wrongful death, racial profiling, and other violations of Diallo's civil rights. On February 26th, all four officers were acquitted of all their charges. In the courtroom, the officers acknowledged their mistake in shooting Diallo. They all told the judge it was one big mistake, a huge mess. It wasn’t a mistake though. They deliberately shot him without letting the situation unfold. The only punishment they got for shooting a faultless man was the disbandment of their crime unit. Of course the guilt they feel will linger with them for the rest of their lives, this means nothing when they don’t get legal punishment.

Amadou Diallo will be one of the thousands of Black Men killed by police force. His death will forever be remembered in a way that shows just how racial-profiling is used in the community. Black people should feel safe outside of their home, in Amadou’s case, on his doorstep, not feeling petrified when they see a police car roll up, or even a group of white men. I am utterly disgusted that the four officers in this act of violence were not convicted, because what they did was not accidental, but
