Dogfighting
“Dogs are wise. They crawl away into a quiet corner and lick their wounds and do not rejoin the world until they are whole once more”(christie). When dogs get hurt they go hide from people till they feel better. They don’t want people to see them hurt. They pay more attention to care for the breeding of their dogs and more likely to travel across state lines for events. “Professional dogfighters” often have large numbers of animals as many as 50 and earn money from breeding, selling, and fighting dogs at central locations and on the road. Professional dogfighting is a highly organized subculture, made up of secretive groups where theres is large amounts of money change hands.Unlike professional dogfighters both professionals and hobbyists of today may dispose dogs that are too human aggressive for the pit by selling them to street fighters who are looking for an aggressive dog. Dogfighting has its own set of code words like campaign is a fighting dogs career, a champion is a dog who has won three fights and a convention is a large dog fighting event sometimes with activities like music and food.
