EARLY TOURISM
In the ancient times people travelled in search for foods and it is reflected as tourism. The word of tourism derived from the Hebrew word torch. It means studying, learning, Searching.
When we look in to history of tourism, we can identified 5 stages as follows,
1. Roman Empire Period
In Roman Empire Period there was a post-Republication period of the Roman civilization and we can identify an autocratic from the government and large international holdings around the Mediterranean in Europe, Africa, and Asia. During the control of the Roman Empire so many factors were contributed to the travel and tourism and it caused to the development of tourism industry. Renaissance Era (14th to 16th Centuries)
Renaissance Era mentioned as a rebirth or emerged period of travelling. Commercial activities raised and merchants ventured into new lands and upraised the high interest in travel for commercial purpose and in order to have pleasure.
4. 17th Centuries
The Grand Tour, i.e. travelling the young generation from British noble families to chosen countries such as France, Germany & Italy as they had the need to improve their knowledge, necessary helped to the training of future leaders of politics and administrators. This took nearly 3 years to complete a tour.
5. Industrial Revolution Period
The revolution of the modern society, a.k.a. The Industrial Revolution caused to change of the lifestyle of Europeans, in an urban way made them apart from the agricultural life style. This was resulted in a fast increase of the literacy and the wealth level of the middle class so that it tend to the growth of the leisure tourism which spa town loving fashionable Europeans moved to places such as Baden, Germany and Bath, UK while the rest of rich travelers attracted to seaside resorts such as Brighton, Margate and Scarborough.
