Within the city of Riverwatch, our members believe in a alternative method of solving the violence within schools. Having a mixture of liberal and conservative members in the community, come together to bring a solution to increase children’s safety, which is an important priority. Our crime rate encourages citizens to prepare for the worst, especially after witnessing what shootings are capable of in closed areas (such as the Las Vegas school shooting) (Deadliest Mass Shootings in Modern US, n.d). Our small and safe community by the mountains has had a fairly peaceful past, but threats against our own school have been made in the past, and in view of the recent insanity, we believe something must change. As a society, we can move past all of the nonsense and solve the problems that face us. This can especially be done in the classroom by equipping teachers with nonviolent ways of solving school shootings. The concern isn’t about doing this to just make ourselves and our community safer, but to make our entire country and our children safer as well. The situation as is cannot stay, change has to happen, and honestly, just about any change at the moment would be for the better. With discussion, and the voice of the people, we can figure out what is best for all of us, and what steps absolutely need to be taken. Even now, across America as a whole, popular and powerful citizens are pressing for change to occur, each proposing their own ideas and ideals. (Markiplier, 2018). Riverwatch plans to not only make access to weapons difficult for those with proven violent pasts and mental illnesses, but to also implement a program of equipping our teachers with non-lethal methods of handling shooter incidents.
