School is a place where every child should go to get proper education to succeed in the world. These children should be focusing on their academics and not whether they are in danger or not. Along with children, parents should not have to worry everyday when sending their kids on the school bus or dropping them off at school. In recent years, the school shootings that have took places makes children and parents fearful because they do not know if one of these tragedies are going to occur at the school they attend. At this point, it seems as if anything is possible and these horrific events could happen to anyone everywhere. This worry is provoking a want for change typically in gun laws and gun safety. Many people believe that guns are the problem to school safety, but this is a false statement because guns are not the only thing that will cause a school to be unsafe. Making sure mentally ill people do not have access to gun is a very good idea but taking away the privileged from people who have no mental illness is unjust. It is suggested that, “The National Rifle Association is intransigently opposed to gun control, yet it is not opposed to the dangerous user exception (as it is sometimes called) to our Second Amendment rights” (Hunt 1). This is very true because people making it seem like the National Rifle Association (NRA) wants these school shootings to happen like they are cruel and ill people, but this is wrong.
