In my research I found that many African Americans fought in many wars alongside white soldiers. Some were forced to sign up for the draft others were eager to enter the draft. They were treated unfairly by some soldiers and were given many tasks almost as if they were salves for their unit. But as true soldiers they did their job without complaining about the task. Though they were treated differently they still fought for our country risking their lives. During the time that African Americans started to enter the draft they still did not have all the rights that as humans they deserved. In the regiments black soldiers were separated from the whites and put in their own sleeping quarters. The racial prejudicial problem followed these men when they went out into combat.2 If a black soldier was captured by the opposing side, when they got back to base they were brutally punished by the Generals. At this time in the military there were not many black Generals, Lieutenants, Privates, Corporals, Sergeants, etc. In other words there were many white soldiers that were in charge with a higher rank. Because of this blacks were treated with less respect and recognition as the other white soldiers. Many African Americans did not go right in to fighting in the war they started by doing household jobs/chores.3 These jobs consisted of; cooking, cleaning, and getting weapons, and nursing the sick and many more things. After all the training they had to go through some of the “Buffalo Soldiers” (blacks) were sent into war.4 Many were put on the front line because they whites thought they were not as important. The black soldiers did not seem to care as long as they were out there fighting and not do a “slave mans” work. Almost all of the black soldiers lost their lives in
