Reflection On The Life-Span Perspective Of My Development

The life-span perspective is the idea that development is a lifelong process that begins from conception and end at death. Life development is multifaceted and is influenced by many different factors such as socioeconomic status, prenatal care and culture. The first three years of life are very pliable and development of a child can be impacted by the small nuances of a loving smile or dismal living conditions it must survival daily. Using the life-span perspective, I will reevaluate the first three year of my life and see how my development was influenced by multidimensional factors. This constant interaction with many different individual allowed me to become a gregarious toddler. This complies with Bandura’s social cognitive theory; I was in an environment where I was able to learn from the behaviors of very social people, imitated the behavior and made it my own. Growing up in a lively environment with a lot of people and sound made me accustomed to being around loud sounds from an early age. I was less likely to b frighten or bother by loud sound. Being around so many people allow me observe and experience language which could have impact my cognitive development in speaking. Most Latino families have a very psychical way upbringing. Children are shown affection through hugs, kiss and reprimanded for bad actions by hit on the hand. This parenting ideology coincides with Skinner’s operant conditioning theory, that these reactions can help mold a child into developing certain behaviors.
