Prescription Drug Abuse

Prescription have taken millions of lives over the last century when they were introduced. Amazing talents like Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Elvis Presley and many more people that have changed the world for the better have been stolen from the abuse of prescription drugs. The misuse of prescription drugs is a growing epidemic in North America right now with the use escalating 4 times since 2004, that bringing 4 times as many deaths. I think if we don’t put a stop to this now then the problem will continue to get worse and therefore lead to more and more deaths. There needs to be a halt to handing out these types of drugs or a system put in where not just anyone with pain or illness can obtain prescription …show more content…

The Health and Human Services(HHS) goal is to preserve the health of people and try their best to keep them as healthy as possible. They had five key points on opioid abuse. 1 - Improving access to treatment and recovery services. So they just want the rehabilitation or addiction treatment to become better so people get off the drug and become a functional member of society. 2 - Promoting the use of overdose-reversing drugs. The most common reversal drug being naloxone that blocking the opium feelings of taking drugs like heroin, morphine and oxycodone. I think this idea is amazing and should be used a lot more. 3 - Strengthening and understanding. This simply is just to know what all this is and understand how and what to do to deal with it. 4 - Providing support for research on pain. The government can’t fund these projects to try and help people that abuse this is why they need your support with donates to help the project. 5 - Getting better practice for pain. Instead of using drugs to ease your pain find a different way because you could easily become addicted to these drugs. All 5 of these points are very reasonable and somewhat easy to do.
