Teen suicide is a tragedy among young people, it continues to be a serious problem lately but we can solve this by raising awareness, educating teens on the effect it has on their family, and setting up a program to end this issue.Chances are that you will know at least two people who will commit suicide during their teen years. These may or not be people who are in your circle of friends. But what if they were—would you think that you could have a chance to prevent it? “The current rate of 13 suicides per 100,000 remains twice the 1970 rate.” (Ratusny 1989) It comes as a tragedy of a young life wasted, experiences not yet lived, and potentials not yet explored. They are committed to improving crisis services and advancing suicide prevention by empowering individuals, advancing professional best practices, and building awareness.” (suicide prevention lifeline) The rate of teen suicides continues to soar in the United States. “In 1960 the suicide rate among fifteen- to nineteen-year-olds was 3.6 per one hundred thousand.”(Ojeda,2004) “Which has gradually raised up to record forty-years high in 2017.” (Suicide Rates, 2017) The increasing rates indicate the seriousness of the issue. The solution lies in a long-term, slow process of recovery. It includes raising awareness, educating teens on the effect it has on their family and setting up a program to end this issue. Making it illegal in states can also be helpful.
