Our Texas U.S Senators are part of the legislative branch, where the laws are created. The senator's job is to represent the people living in their state (Texas) in the United States Senate. There are 2 senators for every state no matter the population, they are elected by the people who live in Texas. Both of our senators have an office in Washington, D.C., and offices in their home state. While the state senator represent people in their own districts , meaning only residents of those areas are eligible to vote for them. The state senators serve in the state legislature, and the U.S. senators make up a chamber of Congress. U.S. senators represent their own state and at the same time they represent the nation as a whole. Meanwhile state senators are responsible for legislation which affects their state. The terms they serve are also different from each other the U.S. senator’s serves a term of six years while the State senators serve from two to four years. This plan proposed a structure of government to the Constitutional Convention. However this did not apply for everyone, because this would mean that states with a larger population will get more representatives so they supported this plan while the smaller states were opposed to the plan. There was an alternative option offered called the New Jersey Plan. This plan was also known as the Small State Plan which consisted of 11 resolutions. The New Jersey Plan would be a new process that ensures there is an unbiased selection of State representatives to a centralized legislative body.
