Flapper: “The woman of the 1920’s boldly asserted her right to dance, drink, smoke, and to work. Her own property, to live free of strictures that governed her mother's generation. Since the beginning of time society has changed drastically, with some years seeming to differ more than others. Although three time periods that seem to stand out to me are the 1920’s era, 1980’s, and 21st century. All three time periods the United states have grown and made our nation what it is today. Rather it be socially, economically, or politically, America has changed for better and the worst. Socially, America has evolved from so many styles of trends and media. In the early 1920’s stock markets became very popular and many people became advanced creative with the way they made their money. Verses to the 1980’s, in 1987 the stock market crashed. This day known as Black Monday, the largest crash in history to only take one day. After the incident it took americans to become comfortable again. Today stock markets way more advanced and safe, seeing as they've learned from previous years to seen on what not toda. So many more people are more comfortable invest in stocks. As far as self employment businesses, many did that legally while others did not. One example being drugs and alcohol. In the 1920’s this became very popular. Alot of people smoke and drank, so people began to create their own underground clubs for people to do so and different gangs persay of people to sell products. Soon enough the government passed a prohibition act that was not very successful. Although by the 1980’s the government then issued the 21 year olds and up to be the only one eligible legally to buy and drink alcohol. Today the government is not even considering the drinking age to rise
