Dave is a 1993 political comedy film about the Executive Branch of the United States. Dave who runs a temporary employment agency ends up looking exactly like the President of the United States. Dave is hired by the secret service to pose as the President for an evening while the President is out with his mistress. The real President Bill Mitchel ends up having a terrible stroke that leaves him incapacitated. The Chief of Staff, Bob, creates a plan to have Dave fill in as the President so he can secretly run the office and push the Vice President out of the way. With Dave as President he revives Mitchell’s presidency being more charismatic, more loving, and more willing to do the right thing. Dave essentially blackmails Bob into resigning and works to cut $650 million dollars from the budget to fund the shelter homes. Bob retaliates and holds a press conference denouncing the President by presenting the illegal acts he conducted. Eventually, Dave holds a joint Congressional meeting where he tells the truth about him and Bob’s illegal actions and then he pretended to have a stroke so the real Bill Mitchell could fully be pronounced dead and the Vice President could take over. …show more content…
The first one seen is how the President can become infatuated with himself and only looking out towards his goals. This is shown in the movie in the beginning with the original President Bill Mitchell who is negative, ignoring of the rules of the White House, and more concerned about his own political agendas. It is then portrayed in the end of the movie when Bob the Chief of Staff reveals the illegal acts the original President conducted to create more funding and support for himself. This poltical message is showing the negative side-effects of being President and how corrupt a government official can
