Touch Football is a sport that includes limited contact but is a fast flowing game that can easily be learnt. The game becomes more physically demanding as athletes become more involved in competitive levels. As most sports, touch requires the use of the aerobic and anaerobic systems as well as a range of fitness components to allow athletes to perform at their best. “ Touch is considered 50% anaerobic, 30% aerobic and 20% both.” (Touch Football Australia, 2009). During any physical activity the body will use three energy systems to create energy for our body to function properly. Aerobic energy uses oxygen and anaerobic energy is used without oxygen. The anaerobic system can be broken down into the creatine phosphate (CP) system and lactic acid system. On Monday and Wednesday the team trainings will allow the team to improve as one. These trainings involve dynamic warm ups, drills, a game and a cool down. The Dynamic warmup is very important as it stretches and warms up the body muscles to create less chance of being injured. Dynamic warmups efficiently take the body to an active state while previously being in a rest state and take the limbs through their required range of motion. The drills used should be in relevance to what the team needs to improve on from last weeks game. Using drills that include basic and essential skills are reasonable but at a high performing level, players should know how to perform these. Drill training can allow players to learn new movements while also keeping their basic skills. The 30 minute game can allow players to use what they learnt in drills and put it into a real fame situation. These team trainings are very suitable for touch
