America is full of different superheroes and villains, but one aspect of superheroes are vigilantes. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “a member of a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily (as when the processes of law are viewed as inadequate); broadly: a self-appointed doer of justice” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Vigilantes take crime into their own hands and take care of it through violence. America respects vigilantes, such as the Green Arrow, because of their heroic efforts to make the world a better place. The tv channel, CW, started a new television show about DC Comic Superhero, the Green Arrow, titled, Arrow. In an article written by, Matthew Beard, tells us about the story of Arrow. “Arrow tells the story of Oliver Queen, playboy heir to a multibillion-dollar corporation. Whilst yachting with his father, Robert, engine malfunctions sink the boat. Oliver finds himself adrift with his father, who admits that he was not the philanthropic businessman the media portrayed him as. Robert implores Oliver to survive, and return to Starling City in order right his wrongs. …show more content…

The CW tv show is just one example of how the media makes America admire them. In the TV show, it is common to quickly take sides with Oliver Queen and join his cause. Oliver Queen is just one example. Many times, as presented above, people take to the streets to become vigilantes to sustain themselves, their families, and their community. It is a way for those citizens to show their allegiance to their fellow citizens. Many others don’t necessarily do it to show their allegiance, but they do it because they believe others can’t and won’t. Sometimes taking things into their own hands is all that they can do. America will continue to respect vigilantes, continuously through many examples they are shown of all their heroic efforts to make America a better
