A vulnerable population could mean a number of different things to a number of different people. The dictionary definition of vulnerable is as follows; "1. Capable of being physically or emotionally wounded or hurt" (1). Applying that to populations, the most basic form of a vulnerable population is a group of individuals at some sort of risk, whether that risk be poverty, illness, discrimination/violence, or death among other things (2). Age, sex, and unfortunately race can either increase or decrease the vulnerability of populations (3). Some examples of vulnerable populations can be based on location, time in history, and unexpected circumstances. In another article published by the World Economic Forum titled 10 ways to improve LGBT rights in Europe explains that eight of the top ten countries to live for gay and lesbian individuals are in Europe (8). However, when taking a closer look at eastern Europe these levels of equality begin to drop to as low as 8% for gays and lesbians. Europe has put together a "roadmap against homophobia" to help in this equality (9). Some are the recommendation are as follows; ending discrimination in educational settings and offering more social protection since current laws do not cover this (9). Another recommendation is to reinforce equalities laws (9). A big way Europe can meet these recommendation is to work with the rest of the world and other countries to come together in this fight (9). Part C: Transgender individuals in Europe have been through ups and downs. Europe has made big strides in equalities of LGBT; however, they still have a long way to go. These individuals face discrimination in some unthinkable ways in order to express themselves. They are a vulnerable population because they are viewed as wrong or different from the rest of society in Europe. A vulnerable population can mean so many different things to different individuals, but the base of vulnerable population just means there is a risk of harm or death to a group of
