I believe college athletes should be paid. If college athletes were to get paid, they will want to stay in school life and get a degree. Jadeveon Clowney use to play college football for South Carolina. He found out he would be in the top 5 picks for the NFL draft, but really wanted to get his degree. Jadeveon was struggling financially to take care of his family, so he decided to go the NFL to earn the money he needs. He said, “If I would have the chance to take care of my family through college, I probably would have stayed in school longer.” Clowney believes that if college athletes were to get paid, more students will stay in school longer and get a degree. Another story is about a basketball player named Rashad McCants from North Carolina. Rashad thought if you went to college and played sports you wouldn't have to do any work, but he realized this is not the case. He later thought if he would’ve got paid while playing college basketball, he would’ve been able to focus a little more on school. Jay BIlas is a college basketball analyst and he says NCAA makes around 15 billion dollars a year. The money they make gets passed between the schools, broadcasting companies, and sponsors, but not the players. The coaches of Duke and Wisconsin made around 6 million dollars in a season.
