In the year of 2016 every football conference made at least $23.6 million. The game officials were paid $2,100 each for the championship game. Those who played in the game did not even get a dime. College athletes should be able to get paid for the games that they are playing. The college athletes are being exploited. They are being used to sell brands and a lot of them make schools more popular. The football revenue for The University of Texas in the year 2011-2012 was $103,813,684, and the players did not receive anything. According to the news article written by Richard Alm, a reporter for The Dallas Morning News, the NCAA’s D1-A , the 110 schools at the apex of college sports spent an average of $17.3 million at the end of the year 1997. …show more content…

Most of them do not have the time to get jobs, because of training with the sport they play, and having to maintain a decent GPA. According to The Huffington Post , Division-1 scholarships are only worth $25,000 per year. Most of the athletes who acquire these scholarships do not even stay at the school for the full four years. A lot of them transfer to other schools, so that their situations could be made better.They could earn more playing time and a better opportunity to make it pro. The coaches who are coaching these athletes make $100,000 per year four times what the athletes scholarships are worth. These coaches also receive bonuses for making it to the playoffs, winning championships, or breaking school records. The NCAA executives are making millions per year, and the students cannot even accept $50 for signing a autograph. The NCAA and the coaches are making a lot of money and becoming wealthier everyday off of the athletes that are playing for them .On the other hand some people say that college athletes should not get paid for their playing.
