Sonam Maknojia Can Ethical Malaise Be remedied Through Ethics Education The author Verne E. Henderson argues that the business ethics can be taught, with the help of education, however is not about learning anymore it’s also about what grades you get. The author argues about the expectation of learning, its goals and outcomes in ethical education. Whatever student learnt in the classroom they will apply that in real life also. Most people don’t think ethics as the strong thing in the life, its rules, policies and values instead they consider ethics as the ingrained characteristics which must be implanted within first five years of life. The author said that no, we shouldn’t teach the ethics in the school because this is something we should learned from our parents not from our teacher, I agree that the ethics are taught by parent when we were very young but those ethics are used in daily life and business is much complicated than we think so it ethics also. I don’t agree with author, instead the school should teach the student about the ethics, what is ethical or unethical in the business world for example, using office supplies for the personal uses might don’t make any different but its unethical to use office supplies for personal use. He also said that the decision we made is based on gut feeling and so what you fell and think is not always same. On this I agree with author because when making the decision we always have the gut feeling which stops us form making decision, it gave the opportunity to rethink about our decision, but I think our gut feeling is also based on ethics because my right or wrong decision will based on my ethical values. The author also compared the ethics with incentive, the example author cover in the topic is about police officer, the main reason he said we have the corrupt officers is because they were not getting incentive and which result in corrupt officers, if the officers get rewards for reducing crimes, so they can work better and legally, but I don’t agree with author in this because this case is now on ethical decision, because if the officer make his decision based on his or her ethical values, the bribe and corruption will never be there. We are indirectly barbering the officer by providing bonuses and incentive for not to bribe, but instead we need to make them strong decision maker to make the right decision of what they do in their life and most important in
