In today's military environment, two of the most important moral principles that have a major impact in leadership are Ethics and Diversity. Regardless, of the branch of service we decide on, whether it be the Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy, we will always find there's pride in the diversity and ethic code of conduct that the military offers. The military has the commitment to open opportunities for men and women regardless of creed or race, and the military is committed to educate personnel in programs and presenting opportunities that promote diversity and ethical code of conduct in the chain of command. These standards are designed to influence a soldiers’ decision making, actions in the field, and in their daily interactions with others in their chain of command. Some examples of military codes of conduct include responsibility, honor, trust, accountability, integrity and loyalty. It’s the Military’s job to train their personnel to live by these set standards from the start of their service. Furthermore, these ethical standards serve as guidelines and they’re reinforced in their servicemen and women throughout their military service. Once these codes of conduct are instilled in servicemen and women, they shape military life and behavior. And the goal for the military is to govern servicemen and women’s behavior through ethical conduct. The armed forces today have varying ethnic diversity of organization, race, and gender. It shows how sharing different background experiences have a great influence in our military armed forces today. The armed force Academy (USAFA), which is one of the largest military academies in the U.S. is diverse and they manage the wide range of diversity through ethical leadership conduct and moral standards allows USAFA to cope with the diversity with the ranks.. USAFA is dedicated to helping their cadets with management in diversity and seeking higher education. I believe that the military tries to show and demonstrate the values of respect, loyalty, and courage. It's important for every individual to have some sort of moral aspect of leadership such as, embracing ethical conduct and understanding. For General Schwarzkopf his views on leadership were based on "Think of yourself as a leader. Leaders lead people, not systems" (Schwarzkopf). Some of the examples that Schwarzkopf stated that classifies an individual as a true leader are a strong character, competence, and courage. A true leader has a strong character and a fair sense of duty and morality towards those in uniform.
