Walter is a middle age that is ashamed of were he is inn life. When walter discovers that he will get 10 grand from the insurance company when his father died, he gets some big dreams about owning a liquor store. He belives that if they invenst all of their money into a liqoure store, that they will become rich and move out of the getoh. He is the only man in the house besides his son travis who is almost never there. So it is just him and 3 women. I chose walter because i can relate to him. My dad is gone for about 1 month at a time, and during that time i am stuck with my older sister and my mother. This lets them team up on me and i end up feeling like i am the only person doing stuff in the household. That is how walter feels, he feels …show more content…

He is mostly ashamed that he has ot gone anywhere financialy. He is ashamed that his sone has to sleep on a couch because they don’t have enough money to buy a house that has a extra room or even a bed. I also fell that he is confident in all of his plans because once mama gives him about 6,500 he starts talking about what will happen as if it already has. To do that you have to be very confident in your plans. He is very ambisious about succeeding in his dream. And i feel that only when he thinks about his dream does he become selfish for money. I think that because when you have a dream and you want it to come true, you will do anything to get it. He says they would have fancy cars and a mansion once they invested in on the liqour store. But that would take a long time to even get the same amount of money back that he put in, and with being a black man in his time period it would take alot of luck and patience to succeed in his dream of becoming rich. It does not mention were the liqour store is located, but if it is in a white area it would mean he would not get that far. With white people being as racist as they were i don’t think that they would buy liqour from a black man. That would put him into 10 grand of debt. Even if the liqour store was in a all black neighbor hood, i think Wlater would become very frusturated with how long they would have to wait until they start rolling in money how he thinks it will be. That could possibly cause some conflict with him and the other people that he is working with. What makes his dream very unrealistic is the fact that willy harris took all of his money in a big scam leaving Walter with nothing. So even if walter sold the house that they moved into he would still have to find at least 2 other people to pay for the liqoure store. And that is if the liqoure store is cheap. Something else that
