Africans during the 1880-1914 were experiencing their land being colonized and taken by Europeans. They went through rough times in their lives including the Atlantic slave trade and being slaves in European countries as well as in America. Europeans had intentions of taking the poor lands of the Africans and making them wealthy as a beneficial strategy. Africans were taken and had no say or right in their land being invaded. Marx Darwin came up with survival of the fittest influencing Europeans to take control of their lands. The motivation behind the European acquisition of African colonies in 1880-1914 was more power and money against other countries as well as more land and markets for the Bourgeois.
Powerful men in Europe believed it was their right to take over these colonies whether they were agreed with or not. (Martial Henri Merlin, governor general). Europeans saw themselves as the superior race they were able to do more civilized activities than those who were seen as inferior like the Africans. They wanted to develop wealth of land and charge things for better. World colonial policy was also a motivation, middle class owned markets and wanted to further business. People in Europe suffered from depression trade a dark time for them and wanted to make sure that never happened again with securing markets and making sure no one starved. Colonies are what make up the states power and prosperity and civilized people wanted to strive and do better to provide more opportunities.
