Euthanasia comes from the Greek language and means “good death” also known as mercy killing. It a way of ending a person’s life in a painless way. There are many reasons why committing mercy killings are a horrible thing to do. There are also ways to prove that they can be something beneficial to the person that is experiencing it experiencing it. The story Of Mice and Men is about two men named George and Lenny who have lived together since Lenny’s aunt died. Lenny is a man that is not very smart and is somewhat “absent’ in the mind. George is a man that cares deeply for Lenny and wants the best for him. They face many difficulties throughout their lives together. Lenny gets in trouble frequently and ends up accidently killing a women. George feels that he has to shoot Lenny because he doesn’t want him to experience the pain that will come later on due to his actions. This story reflects the perfect example of what a mercy killing is and how it is done. George kills Lenny to relive him of any suffering and/or pain he will encounter later on by killing him. This shows how George committed a mercy killing (the killing of a slow suffering death/killing someone to put them out of their misery).
