The time from WWI until the end of WWII, was one of the most important time for the progres for the future of the great US. Many events had occurred that affected the US in many ways, such as the Great Depression, WWI, WWII, etc. The most important event that had occurred that caused not just the US to go into a dark time but the whole world, was the Great Depression. The Great Depression was an economic crisis that started in the US, but affected the whole world, due to the stock market crash in 1929.

Many events occurred which lead to the Great Depression, but the most famous one was the stock market crash which impacted the economy the most. Stockholders had lost 40 billion dollars since the crash, and that soon lead to the Great Depression. …show more content…

His movement to bring back the great, prosperous US, was called the New Deal, which was experimental projects that were going to try and help change the crisis. President Roosevelt passed the Roosevelt emergency banking act, which stopped american’s from pulling out their savings from the bank, and a couple of days later he urged the American people to put back their money back into the bank. After a couple days since his act was passed, three quarter of the banks had reopened. Roosevelt was just starting the movement to turn around the crisis. He passed many other acts such as Agricultural Adjustment Act, the Tennessee Valley Authority Act, and the National Industrial Recovery Act. These acts helps build dams to create hydroelectricity, help and protected union workers to protest for higher wages and fewer work days, and more. All the policies place by Roosevelt from 1933 to 1941, all affected the United States for the better; he adjusted interest rates,tinkered with farm subsides and create short-term make-work programs, created a political coalition, and many …show more content…

President Roosevelt passed a very aggressive reform system to change the economic crisis; it was called the New Deal as i mentioned above. Some of his programs that he passed argued and went against the Supreme Court. At the time many americans were seeking help from local governments, but as the economic crisis worsened, the people started seek help from the federal government, and that was when the role of the federal government had changed. The federal government didn’t want to deal with the economic crisis because they believed they weren’t supposed to intervene in the economy due laws and rights. When the New Deal started the role of the government in the situation grew and began to help out their american people through the reforms and acts set by President Roosevelt. Before the Great Depression the Federal government had no role or were involved in the american economy and after the New Deal their role at the time was help out their people, and get involved in the economy. Without the Great Depression and without the government getting involved in the economy and helping out the people there wouldn’t be programs like college assistance, veteran benefits, medicare, medicaid, and government investments in arts and
