Evil is an inherent trait that humans have. In William Golding’s book, The Lord of the Flies, a group of boys are stranded on an island and have to figure out how to get rescued. Without rules, there’s nothing stopping people from hurting each other. After Jack and his hunters didn’t do their job, Ralph and Piggy were mad at them, “ This from Piggy, and the wails of agreement from some of the hunters, drove Jack to violence. The bolting look came into his blue eyes. He took a step, and able to hit someone, stuck his fist into Piggy’s stomach. Piggy sat down with a grunt. Jack stood over him” (Golding 71). Jack didn't care about the consequences and tried to kill Ralph just because he was calling him names. Violence and Anarchy also go hand in hand with …show more content…

They had all started the fire without thinking about any dangers and accidentally caused his death. They even go as far as forgetting about him completely later on in the book. The next death is Simon’s, “ Softly, surrounded by a fringe of inquisitive bright creatures, itself a silver shape beneath the steadfast constellations, Simon’s dead body moved out toward the open sea” (Golding 154). The boys had killed Simon because they thought he was the beast, some of them probably even knew it was Simon. While trying to get his glasses back, Piggy is killed by Roger, “ The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee; the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist” (Golding 181). Roger had mercilessly killed Piggy because he tried to take back his glasses and Jack’s tribe felt like the glasses now belonged to them. These deaths clearly show the evil in
