Even way back when the country was founded, there was a definite split between two political perspectives. The Federalists wanted to abolish the Democratic-Republicans, and vice versa. The huge differences that divided the two parties include, Who the country should be ruled by, state power in the union, how the constitution should be applied, alliance with countries in Europe, banks, and trade. Let's start with some basic background information. The Federalists were people who thought that the quarreling states could come together and make a perfect republic.
The first political parties began in the mid 1790's, with the Federalist and the Democratic-Republicans. The two parties had their differences and similarities. Here are some differences, the Federalist wanted a strong central government which meant the states had no power, a little like having a king. In the other hand the Democratic-Republicans wanted to limit the government because they feared that if the government had too much power it would endanger people's liberties. The federalist wanted an alliance with the British because of the distrust with the French after the French revolution as stated in page 291.

Some of them include: Frank Fluckiger, Doug Aden, Gerald Kilpatrick, Cindy Redburn, and Sam Pew. One thing people may not know about the Constitution Party is they do support Jesus. There was an argument that stems from the preamble stating “The Constitution Party grateful acknowledges the blessings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States.” The goal of the constitutions is to bring things back to the basis of its Biblical foundations.
Political parties, Democratic Republicans and Federalists, started in the U.S. because of differing views of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, and the influence of newspapers. Jefferson’s and Hamilton’s different ways of thinking(mostly on issues that was beneficial for the country) played a huge part in the start of political parties. They fought about economy. Jefferson liked farming while Hamilton preferred manufacturing and trade. Interpretation of the Constitution was another thing they fought upon.

Its individualistic perspective includes living in moderation, be tough, don’t spend more than you have to, and be honest. The federalists wanted to have a national bank runned by the government.
Educated, wealthy people were to support the Federalists and their top priority was to help the wealthy, unlike the Democratic Republicans. They were a group of ordinary people that wanted to help the debtors first. Hamilton, followed by the Federalists, viewed people as selfish. On the other hand, following Jefferson, the Democratic - Republicans believed people to be mainly good. The Constitution was not strongly interpreted by the Federalists, they believed it gave implied powers.
In the early Republic, there were two major parties: the Democratic Republicans and the Federalists. The Democratic Republicans were the strongest in the South, weakest in the Northeast but they still had a strong following. They believed that the country should have a weak central regime, they advocated for the rule of the people, and they strongly believed that national debt was a burden to the people. The Federalists in the same time were beginning to fade, but they still were minute.
Thomas Jefferson once said. “There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties”. The reason he said this was because he feared a strong central government. Then for some Americans, fears of a strong central government taking advantage came true. This is when the two political parties split.

The Federalist Party, created largely by Alexander Hamilton, rivaled by Jeffersonian Democratic-Republican Party which was formed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison and is usually called at the "Republican Party.” Van Buren helped form the new Democratic Party from a coalition of Jeffersonian Republicans who backed the military hero and president Andrew Jackson. In Martin Van Buren letter to Thomas Ritchie he states, “It would greatly improve the condition of the republican party of the north and middle states by substituting party principle for personal presence as one of the leading points.”

This is because of the notion that politics ought to be rational and collaborative in representing the people’s interest instead of being competitive. As a result, the competitive nature of the political parties contributed to despotism and corrupt systems in which the politicians are separated into camps of losers and winners.
