Everyone needs to struggle in order to preform better. Writing has always been a strength of mine, but I found it a challenge to move from the high school, six-paragraph essay format that I had grown accustomed to. Throught the course of this semester, I was able to acquire many different skills in ENG 1101 that have helped me transition into more complex writing. These include various writing techniques, MLA formatting, writing for purpose, convincing my arguments and finding and properly using sources. The portfolio I have submitted is comprised of three works of writing that I completed for ENG 1101 over the last three months.
As Junior year comes to an end I am positive that my learning experiences and my growth as an individual will help me with what Senior year has to offer. Among the ESLRS, two that I identify and that I have mastered are: write efficiently across the curriculum and apply skills and knowledge. I have written efficiently across the curriculum in my AP English Language class, when having to write essays in a precise amount of time. These time write essays accumulated as a resource of how writing an essay in the AP exam would be. Each essay was practice in writing a full essay and writing down our main thoughts and ideas.
I am now able to see the areas in which I lack in but I also recognize my strengths as well. To become a precise writer, you have to take the initiatives that will help you do so. These initiatives consist of working on different academic genres, planning and organizing material, identifying purpose and audience and for revising intentionally. It is also includes reading different types of texts and learning how to understand a writer’s argument and respond to the ideas of others.

Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
Writing essays and other types of posts has always been difficult for me. But, throughout this composition class, I have learned many interesting and new things about the different types of writing styles. When starting this class, I considered myself to be an average writer with run-of-the-mill vocabulary, ordinary sentence structure and typical finished products.
