Some adults can have a mentoring role in a child’s life. The Wednesday Wars by Gary D Schmidt is a novel about Holling Hoodhood’s seventh grade year. In the story Holling is always told by his father how to act so he can inherit the family business, Hoodhood and Associates. When Holling has Mrs. Baker as a teacher he must be nice because Hoodhood and Associates wants to win a bid for her families sporting business. Holling starts to read Shakespeare with Mrs. Baker and begins to see the world around him differently.
If you told your class that when they were fighting you say "Be like Aphrodite" and they would watch there actions. In addition, Aphrodite should be the mascot is because she is beautiful. People think that it is not a good reason to have
The Bakersfield Police Department does tours of the station, which I think would be a great asset in the students being able to visually see the type of work police officers do, they get to see them work with the K9 dogs, and a police officer can provide students with a background on themselves: why they wanted to become a police officer, what is their favorite part of being a police officer, and what will student’s need to accomplish if they want to become a police officer one day. I would also want to set up a field trip to Grimmway Farms for my students. Grimmway Farms is known for making all different forms of carrots, whether its baby carrots, snack carrots, shredded carrots, and so on. Grimmway Farms would show the students the process of how they plant, grow, and prepare the carrots to sell. The farm provides the students with lunch and gives them a small bag of baby carrots to take home.
To go just another mile, I thought of a new idea I could carry on with me for my next class to incorporate this activity in. I could have the children wear their new Dodger Baseball shirts and I could take a video of the children singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame!" This would be such a great idea as a keepsake and just a fun activity
2) past graduates represent the logo when they are a part of an activity or watching a game at the school. 3) the school honor Frank Prentup with an mascot of an Indians. When I went to Manhattan High School I was part of the choir. I felt great pride having the opportunity to represent the Manhattan Indians at district events.
In the novel Wonder by R. J Palacio, a great theme is having a bestfriend to stick by your side is better than being someone you’re not. Also in the novel Freak the Mighty this is a great theme too. This proves that one theme can go for many books. In the novel Wonder, August is a boy with facial deformities just trying to live a normal life while he can. To add on, in the book Freak the Mighty, Freak is a boy with growing problems just trying to live his life to the fullest and have fun while doing it.
The 2010 speech “Back to School” by president Barack Obama used certain rhetorical techniques, while keeping a more casual tone. The use of logos gave insight to the effect of education already in America. Ethos used many personal examples of his family. While pathos gave the audience a connection to him and his own experiences as a student. Although, the motivational aspect of this speech would only apply to a certain type of student, it was effective in the area it was intended.
This year me and Marcelous are going to dress in all black and wear a clown mask. We are going to try and chase people before they come in. It might woke because a lot of people is are scared of clowns. We had a basketball tournament and only certain grade could play with each other. The grades was 7th-8th depending on how big, and good you are.
The image drawn by Jerry Holbert (image 1) and the image drawn by Tom Stiglich (image 2) are classic examples of political cartoons. They are similar in the fact that they are both about the North Korean and United States diplomatic debate. This debate is about if North Korea is a threat or not and if should something be done to stop them if they are. Although the two images cover the same topic, they show different viewpoints on how they believe America will handle the conflict. The key differences in how the political cartoons establish their purposes and achieve their persuasive techniques are through the balance of humor and symbolism.
We are certainly a class that will be remembered as being, how can I say it... Spirited! Right Mr. Bonney. Even though with the fantastic and funny memories from this year also, there also comes unfortunate terrifying tragedies at our nation school that has most definitely had an impact on all of us in some way and we keep all of those affected by those senseless events in our thoughts today and always.
The song that I think would make a better theme song is “The Outsiders” by Eric Church. I think this because it connects, or goes along with the book, especially with the Greasers. The first line even says, “They’re in the crowd, we’re the other ones.” This tells me that the Socs are the ones who fit in all the time and are known, and the Greasers are the other ones in the city, or the Outsiders. The first part of this song basically states that the Greasers are odd, poor, and lower than the Socs, but the Socs are the popular, neat, put together, and above the Greasers.
In the book “A Wrinkle In Time” (AWIT), there are three big themes throughout the book, but which one is the main theme. The three big themes in AWIT are good vs evil, your faults can be your strengths, and dare to be different. Your faults can be your strength is the main theme of AWIT and this is why. Right before they went into the town of Camazotz, Mrs. W’s (Mrs. Who, Mrs Whatsit, and Mrs. Which) had given them presents.
Doctor of Social Work Program Application Personal Statement Ashley Newberry LCSW, LISW As I child, I was introduced to the human service field in a unique way. For as long as I can remember, my mother has had a human service profession and provided me with daily examples of how to help others. One of my earliest memories is riding out a hurricane while we stayed in the adult group home where my mother worked, assisting with safety measures for residents and providing comfort to her community. My mother worked in multiple residential programs throughout my life, specializing her work with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.
