One archetype apparent in Stephen Crane's short story,"The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky", is the outcast. This particular archetype is represented through the drunken character, Scratchy Wilson. Although this character does not travel from place to place, his actions distance himself from the people of the Yellow Sky. Being the only one that can face Wilson on his shooting parade, Jack Potter confronts that he is not carrying a weapon nor is he player of past events, but is accompanied by his bride.
