Although there are many other people to choose from, Lindsay Lohan is a great example of a modern tragic hero. She grew up in the wealthy parts of the Long Island suburbs located in New York. Both her parents had very profitable jobs. Her father took over his family's business as well as being a banker, and her mother worked as an analyst. Lindsay’s tragic flaw is impulsiveness.
Whitney Houston is a name that is recognizable just like Michael Jackson's. She had a singing and acting career that was out of this world which made her a household name. But, we have to know why she was a household name. Whitney was born into a singing family, being related to Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick who are both well-known singers. So, Whitney began singing as a gospel singer at a local church choir as a child where she got her start.
Everyone can relate to an archetype character in a movie, book, or television show. An archetype meaning to me is when a character can resemblance a certain topic. Example of common archetypes would the following a hero, caregiver, damsel in distressed, lover, villain, or tragic hero. In the play, The Crucible, we learned that some of the characters had common archetypes. This was a tragic play which means it has a tragic hero.

Distanced by years in literature, Okonkwo and Oedipus are remarkably similar, however display aspects of their personalities that make their epic journeys of fate quite different. Both characters are arrogant and refuse to be told they are incorrect about anything. They are considered admirable at first, especially in the eyes of the other characters, however by the end of both stories, they are considered outcasts. Both men possess an egotistic attitude and have an overwhelming sense of pride in their achievements.

The main character Macbeth starts out a good leader and a Scottish general, when you get further in the story he starts to show the other stages of the tragic hero.

Macbeth is a tragic hero because he starts by being loyal and trustworthy, develops a tragic flaw that leads to his downfall, and he redeems a small measure of himself before he dies.
