In “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the conflict of the story is how the Nazis ultimately want to wipe out the Jewish population and have the German population dominate. The holocaust was one of the worst genocides that has happened to one race in the last 100 years it lead to the deaths of 6 million to 17 million jews. There are not that many people still alive that got saved for it because of the exprempit they were put through the time they were in the camps dieing. One of many ways the nazis killed so many jews was gas chambers and pizza type ovens they had mounds of people from the gas chambers piled up in the millions. When they got saved they had to did massov graves and use a bulldozer to get all the bodys in to the grave. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel there are many instes of dehumanizing for example they had to be put in to the cattle cars.

Not only that, but the Jews were also forced to wear a star to show their separation from the rest of society. Plus, when the Jews were forced into ghettos, they were so far alienated that they believed that living in these horrible living conditions was a good thing. (Wiesel 10-11). Similarly, the alienation of specific groups of people in the Cambodian genocide was extremely harsh. Pol Pot, a leader in the Cambodian genocide that is similar to Hitler in the Holocaust, filled the people with hate of those “tainted with non-Khmer traits,” such as having an education, speaking a different tongue, or having a minority background (Bergin 33-34).
The people who are Jews wear Yellow stars on their clothes to show that they are Jewish so they can identify who is a Jewish person and who is not a Jewish person. This piece of symbolism is important because that 's is exactly how they killed them they just saw if you had a yellow star and they could take you without any difficulty of identifying you, if you are a Jew or not a Jew. In the book The Cage, the big oak tree was used as a symbol that Mrs. Gruber does not care for Riva and her family because many people were against Jews and she is one of the persons that had joined the Hitler force. Imagine knowing your fate ahead of time. That single moment would be stuck in your head, replayed every second to prevent it. This would obstruct your feeling of morals, making you only focus on your own survival. Nothing would get in your way of trying to survive. During the Holocaust, many people were faced with this moment when they stepped in a concentration camp.

Elie’s fight with dehumanization Enduring five concentration camps seems like an impossible feat, however, Elie Wiesel recounts his experience of just that in his memoir titled Night. Elie was imprisoned in theses camp (five different concentration camps) from the age of fifteen to the age of sixteen. Throughout his time in the camps Elie and many others experience unthinkable tragedies. After prolonged exposure to inhumane treatment the members of the camps began to lose their humanity.
But some ultimately decided “It can not get worse”. They would begin to create an organizations that would protect the everyday life of Jewish people and its main goals were to provide education, vocational training and strengthening of the Jewish base. Jewish people also had to deal with how they appeared physically in public. The reading says that “In addition all Jews had to wear a yellow star of David on their clothing so they could be easily identified” (Reading). This is introducing them to separations from the “pure” Aryan race to the “weak” Jewish race.
Back then, in 1941, the Nazis made the Jews wear the yellow star to stand out, while now Billy Joel choose to wear the star in public and said, “I am not hiding.
