In Laura Bennett’s essay, “Against Antiheroes” Bennett exemplifies the common trend of anti heroism, in popular mainstream TV shows and movies. She states that an anti hero is a protagonist that we all love, but is lacking heroic qualities. An anti hero, however, is a typical person all people are, with each one having skeletons hidden in their closets. The most quintessential character cannot exist, due to the abstract of different personalities and various life situations and that is how we see so many antiheroes every time we watch something new. The anti hero character is overused in modern TV shows and films.
In act 4 scene 1 where the witches reveal the desires of Macbeth he reacts to the apparitions through diction and dialogue. Shakespeare uses diction after each of the three apparitions to show Macbeth’s feelings. After the first apparition Shakespeare uses a relieved, confident, and not fully content diction to ultimately show how Macbeth feels after each apparition. Macbeth feels relieved when he is given a warning from the witches because it confirms his prior thoughts and beliefs about Macduff. Macbeth says to the witch, “Thou hast harped my fear aright.”

He first is told by the witches that it is his destiny that he will become king, but he brushes it off as nothing. This vision of him as king becomes brighter when his wife says that he should kill the king. Macbeth has many internal struggles over what he should do. Should he be morally sound and not kill the King or take the chance and do it.

In Macbeth, the audience can see the Weird sisters blamed and criticized for the events in the play. This is often because in the literary world they are known for their fatal flaw of meddling, but are they really interfering at all? In the play there are many instances where the three witches make an appearance and give a prophecy that is all too convenient, but this shouldn't be classified as meddling if they do not take any action to change or alter things. Along with the fact that they are sought out by Macbeth at times as well, displaying how Macbeth's own actions eventually lead to his downfall. Throughout the play there are multiple instances where the witches appear and give prophecy or wisdom.
Lady Macbeth becomes gradually becomes more and more unstable throughout the play, her instability aids Macbeths tyranny. When we first meet Lady Macbeth, she is self-assured and determined, more than Macbeth himself. She is even willing to challenge and change her personality by asking forces of evil to "unsex" her in order to rid herself of any feminine factors that might weaken her individually to make Macbeth king. She eventually gives way to the guilt that results in an apparent suicide. It is correct to say she becomes more and more unstable, but she also becomes more moral, given that she begins in the play a mindset of planned evil and ends with guilt, possibly even remorse and compassion.

The entire drama revolves around the facets of Macbeth’s internal struggle and the actions which he takes as a result of this. Catalysed by low self esteem a struggle begins in which Macbeth seeks to be admired by attempting to take power in ways which conflict with conscience. This struggle is manifold and complex but for the purpose of analysis can be divided into three governing factors.
In the play “Macbeth” the protagonist goes through different kind of external and internal conflict. Firstly, Macbeth has an internal conflict within himself whereas he does not want to kill the king, however Lady Macbeth, whom was Lords Macbeths wife, gets involved which leads up to Macbeths first external conflict. Lady Macbeth insults him by calling Macbeth names which upsets Macbeth as a man. But nonetheless Macbeth did not want to kill the King of Scotland, yet he still does it to prove his lady of how much of a man he is.
Before cellphones and social media, bullying used to be pushing each other around on the playground. Since the evolution of the internet, cell phones, and social media, the amount of bullying has increased drastically. Kids are ganging up on others posting material on social media for everyone to see. It’s bad enough that people are being bullied, but bullying someone with a mental illness can cause them to commit suicide. Losing a life to bullying is incredibly tragic, and action needs to be taken to stop it.
