Emotions are something that people can feel and experience. They can also cause harm and effect others in different ways. The emotions that people experience can cause others to feel them as well. Romeo and Juliet By William Shakespeare is a great example of this emotional experience. Romeo is one of the most emotional characters in this story; he uses his sadness and anger to express himself. For example, when Romeo is first introduced in the book he states, “Ay me, sad hours seem long. Was that my father that went hence so fast” (Shakespeare 21). This is already showing that Romeo is a very emotional person and how later on this will cause problems for him. For example when Juliet is finding out about Tybalt’s death and she belives that Romeo has died she warns the nurse this, “ Vile earth to earth resign: end motion here, And thou and Romeo press one heavy bier” (Shakespeare 133). This is revealing that Juliet is not complete without Romeo and wants to kill herself. This is also showing that Juliet’s emotions get the best of her and she is a very suicidal person at times. Another person who encapsulates emotions well is the prince and although we don't see him very often in the story when he is speaking he has power in the way he speaks. For example, when he is upset about the death feud of the capulets and the montagues he states this, “Three civil brawls bred of an airy word By thee, old Capulet, and Montague, Have disturbed the quiet of our streets And made Verona’s ancient citizens Cast by their grave-beseeming ornaments” (Shakespeare 15). This example of the prince’s anger is demonstrating the fact that this is not the first time that the battle between the Capulets and Montagues has happened and the fact that this is causing problems outside of the families.
