In the book Frankenstein by Gris Grimly the main character Victor Frankenstein goes mad and creates a monster out of human corpse parts. After the creature's first interaction with Victor, the creature becomes mad that Victor would just abandon him after he went through all that time creating him. In retaliation, the monster finds William, Victor's younger brother, and murders him. This event causes Victor to devote his life to killing the monster. The monster in Frankenstein can be considered human due to the fact that he has more human characteristics than non-human characteristics. The creature can be considered human because he acts more like a human than a non-human; here's an example. In volume 2 chapter 6 the creature sees a girl drowning and instead of leaving her to die his humanlike emotions tell him to jump into the water and save her. After the creature saves the girl a hunter comes out of the brush and sees the creature trying to help the lady but he mistakes his actions as him trying to hurt her because of his looks so the hunter shoots the creature. This event makes the creature extremely sad and for the first time, he realizes people hate him because of his looks. …show more content…

Another example of him thinking and acting like a human happens in volume 2 chapter 5, the creature is talking peacefully to a blind old man when all of a sudden out of nowhere the creature is attacked by the blind man's son because the creature is hideous. This enrages the creature and he decides to burn their house down after being chased out. This is an example of humanlike behavior because the creature just wants to be treated like a normal person but instead, he gets treated like he isn’t a human. The creature also feels people hate him because he does not look normal even if he acts normal. The creature feels this is unfair and this is the reason he tends to lash out and commit horrible
