Generational Diversity This week we have studied the generational diversity that can occur within a workplace. As a healthcare administrator, you must be able to effectively lead a diverse employee pool. In healthcare specifically, you will have the opportunity to work with several ethnicities and generations. Generational Differences In the podcast, Working Across Generations, we learned that the difference in generations bring a variety of backgrounds and experiences to an organization. For example, the podcast explained that the generation known as the baby boomers were a very work driven generation. The baby boomer generation focused so much on their work life, that they failed to or neglected other aspect of life, such as family. Generation X however, as the children of the baby boomers have learned to equal out all like experiences. Generation X has shown to make sure that their work life does not overflow into other aspects of like unlike the baby boomer generation. …show more content…

This might be hard for both the employees to take, but also hard to the administrator to enforce. Older generations might have to ask coworkers or supervisors who are half their age for help due to learning curves. As an administrator though, it is your job or duty to help make that task easier. In addition to those differences in generational variations between employees is the learning curve. For example, the technology implementation learning curve. The younger generations are more compliant to new form of technology. This is a concern because healthcare is continuously changing, especially with new innovated technological advancements. The administrator will need to accommodate for this learning curve between employees. This means that trainings will need to be conducted to ensure that all employees can work with all new technology. Tailored
