Injustice in WWII John F. Kennedy once said, “Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind.” When we start to think about the logistics of war, the question is: is any war justifiable? Although many things that happened in World War 2 were necessary to the development of our world; many things during the war were unjustifiable, hence I chose uneven scales of justice to represent the war. Since the first modern-day legal system began in Rome, the scales of justice have been used to symbolize the balance between truth and fairness in the justice system. The Holocaust is a horrific event that resulted in the demise of approximately 6 million innocent Jews. When Hitler came into power, he spread anti-semitism widely across the country and forced people to cut all connections with anyone remotely Jewish. In no world would it ever be rational to kill ⅔ of Europe’s Jews and ⅓ of the world’s Jewish population. It’s shocking how Germany was able to commit such an inhumane act and the world let them! Not only was it injustice for the Jews, but they died in pain and agony. In Auschwitz, victims were put into gas chambers disguised as showers and Zyklon B gas was dropped through the ceiling killing everyone in 15 minutes. Bodies were then removed by special detachment and gold fillings inside victim’s teeth were melted into gold bars. Any other valuables like watches were deposited in a secret bank for later. Finally, the bodies were placed in an oven for cremation. This was just one of the cruel ways injustice was served to 6 million Jewish people. The Holocaust is a huge wrongdoing in the world because it killed a third of our world Jewish population, but at what cost? Countries were so blinded by xenophobia and enemy aliens that they performed heartless acts, such as trying to get rid of a whole religion. For example, anti-semitism in Canada was so prominent that our own country sent 900 blameless Jews on Ocean Liner St. Louis back to Europe to get killed in concentration camps because we were scared they would take our jobs. The treatment to Jewish people during World War 2 and The Holocaust is extremely heartbreaking and the epitome of oppression during the time
