What is King Creon coming to tell Medea? What is his plan for Medea and the children?
King Creon comes to announce that Medea and her children must leave beyond Corniths borders. This decision came about because of the threats Medea was making against Jason. King Creon knows what disaster Medea can bring about, and becomes worried she will hurt his family. For example, King Creon states, "I'm afraid of you. There's a good chance you might well instigate fatal harm against my daughter" (line 330). King Creon also knows that Medea is manipulative and experienced in committing evil.

King Creon exiles Medea not only to protect his family from the scandalous situation that resulted from Jason leaving her but from the destruction she can create. For example, King Creon states "There is a good chance you might well instigate some fatal harm against my daughter" (line 330). As well as "I hear you are making threats to take revenge on Jason" (line 335).

Medea manipulates Creon changing his mind and he allows her to stay another day. Medea does this by kneeling to Creon. When kneeling she states, "No, don't send me away. I'm begging you, at your knee in your daughter's name" (line 380). Medea then squeezes Creon's hand (line 399) and begs him to stay. King Creon gives up and agrees to let her remain one more day to prepare.
